As of December 2023, Irdeto, a leader in digital platform cybersecurity, has announced the commercial launch of its CI Plus 2.0 USB Conditional Access Module (CI Plus 2.0 USB CAM) in collaboration with Skardin. This represents a major expansion of CI Plus technology from its original markets.
The CI Plus 2.0 USB CAM builds upon the CI Plus 1.4 solution, offering mandatory features and adding Enhanced Content Protection (ECP) for safeguarding UHD content. Twise works since its creation to offer secure software solutions – as introduced in our September 2022 article – and it is with great pleasure we witness this product come to life.
Notably, it introduces a new USB form factor, replacing the traditional PCMCIA design and making it globally compatible. The USB module, when inserted into a compatible TV’s USB port, decrypts encrypted TV signals, providing users with easy control and environmental benefits. This launch is a game-changer, offering simplicity, user experience, and significant advancements in television technology.
